i am starting to think my mother in law is bipolar or borderline. one minute she is against me then the next she is being nice to me. its so weird.
first she is upset that i gave my partner a hickey because the kids were there. two are teenagers and one is a preteen i think they know what hickeys are and they know we are gay. but whatever then the next minute she told me the kitchen looked good.

Don’t even bother trying to analyze your in laws. They just seem like BAD people. You deserve better.

She is abusive. It doesn’t matter why. Abusers will tear you down until you’re about to snap, then suddenly turn around and be super sweet. If they were just mean all the time, it would be much easier to leave them. It’s all part of their manipulative personalities. She doesn’t want to lose your income, so she occasionally does something nice.
