Risperdal makes me sleepy

Risperdal is not effective for me. It just puts me to sleep. It’s like a drug.
I had to hurry up and get off of it because it was making me sleep in
class. It really scary how sleepy it made me…

I’m on 3mg of Risperdal and along with Depakote sleep fine.
What dose are you on @Charismaallover?

Risperdal is very sedating.

I think it should be allowed to prescribe stimulants for people on APs that are sedating. Some people find their APs incredibly helpful for their symptoms, but can’t stay on them because the sleepiness is debilitating. I had that problem w geodon. Stimulants like modafinil don’t affect dopamine and are not very likely to influence psychosis so should be allowed to be safely prescribed as something to deal with this.

I also wish they would prescribe stimulants.

I was begging for them last year as i couldnt focus or stay awake.

My Doc said it fueled the fire though.

I’m on modafinil and there has been no change whatsoever in my psychotic symptoms. I’m not even on an AP right now either.

Now if you have bipolar apparently it can trigger mania, but my doc said since I was already on a mood stabilizer I should be fine and it’s all been good.

Oh but you may have problems getting it if you live in US where stimulants can technically only be prescribed for people w sleep disorders or ADHD which is dumb. UK is more reasonable.

Ritalin saved my life during school,

Shortly after SZ came through. The ritalin was amazing, I just wish they would give it again if im taking an AP anyways.

Im sure my doc has her reasons though

Yeah Ritalin has a bad rep w people w psychosis, that’s why it wasn’t prescribed to me. I wonder if it would still trigger it if you were on an AP. Better safe than sorry I suppose!

I take mine at night. So I am well rested and the sedation gets slept off and I am fine during the day.

Not to the same extent as Ritalin & adderall though, that’s what my doctor said

I don’t Remember . i havent had risperdal in years. Now im taking abilify at 5 mg in the morning. At night i take haloperidol 4 mg because I take the 2 tablets.

Risperdal =bad akathisia.at least for me.couldn’t sit still

I think i was still sleepy the next day with risperdal.

Risperdal close my eyes literally. I don’t remember the dosage I took for risperdal because I took that years ago.

It can be a really harsh one rhespidone , I found that it was very sedative like . Queatapine is no better , have u tried any natural remedies , forgive me if that sounds like a stupid question but I had a real bad time with meds , some can help during bad patches for me , I take amisulpride occasionally when things are overwhelming but my symptoms do not lesson they just change in their nature , I hope u find something that helps weather medication or self healing , remember your strong and believe in the hope of brighter days
