I only use it as a prn and am only suppose to take 1 or 2mg. I dont find it sedating, just slows my thought process down. I imagine its sedating at a higher dose
seroquel i find very sedating but i dont like the benadryl like feeling it gives me.
So i just have a lot of herbal teas right now.

Yea. It was sedating.
Its also liable to make you fat. I was on it like 5 years. Watch out!

I have to be careful with my pdoc as she will pretty much prescribe anything I ask for except for antidepressants. So I have to do lots of research!

Yes I have been on risperdal for 26 years. I take 6 mg at night. It’s extremely sedating, gives me bizarre dreams, fuels my delusions, made me gain 60 lbs, makes me cry during the mornings, makes me extremely anxious, fuels hopelessness, restlessness, and suicidal ideation.

Both Risperdal and Zyprexa were very sedating on me. That’s why I like Abilify. It isn’t sedating on me.

I find Risperdal to be sedating but still not as bad as other AP’s like Seroquel or Zyprexa.
Navane turned me into a complete Zombie.
So overall, Risperdal is not too bad in the sedation department.

Zyprexa was more sedating than Risperdal for me. I was sleeping all day on Zyprexa and couldnt sleep at night. It was also not working for my psychosis, I was half psychotic on it, was still hearing voices especially at night.

It’s an old fashioned Typical Antipsychotic.
The first one I was placed on.
This was before the newer atypical antipsychotics came out.

In on invega which is basically risperidone and after years of being on it I no longer feel sedated

I’m now getting 5 mg of risperdal per day. I don’t see a difference in 3 or 4 mg compared to 5 mg. I’m heavily sedated. Just the cigarettes make me go out of bed beside toilette, something to eat and drink also because of appointments, and of course the nursing service.

I can’t sleep at night anymore since january. Getting 5 mg risperdal since middle of december. And my sleep meds got upped throughout the time from one pill to three pills. I need to take 5 pills before I go to sleep. Which always fails to go to sleep. I sleep during day time or every other day.

i’m not sure the risperdal is sedating for me, i get a shot 50mg every 2 weeks but i also take clozapine and that sedates me after i take it and then i fall asleep. But i couldn’t say the risperdal is sedating to me.

It is sedating for me. I take it at night… fall asleep 30 mins after taking it. And yes it does aid in the “fattening”… so I do Intermittent fasting…

When I got to my second psychosis, I was given this and Olanzapine and asked to try both out
Risperidone made me feel like a bag of nerves. Olanzapine just subdued me somewhat
Although these at the time were low doses, and everything went to â– â– â– â– many months later until I got proper treatment for SZ
