RIsperdal consta vs oral

Im on risperdal consta and orals atm, next time i see my pdoc in 2 months i wanted to ask him to transfer me to just orals, has anyone found that orals are less effective then injection? thats all i worry about.

I find Seroquel to be as effective as an injection I was on in the past…

lemme chime in on this. I started oral risperdal as my first primary ap back in September 2017. keep a long story short, I was eventually put on injection (depot).

in my opinion the injection is way way better than the pills. a single injection is smoother, longer-lasting, and probably less side effects than oral.

however, I am no longer on risperdal, I’m on the ‘revised’ version known as invega sustenna which I find to be much better.

basically, ever since I was introduced to depot-styled medication treatment, I have no desire to take the pill form again.

the only time after that i ever took the pill form was when I first started consta, like you, and to test out invega.

invega was nicer in my opinion so now I get the sustenna depot, no pill form. plus, the invega sustenna depot is once a month, compared to biweekly with consta.

finally getting that icky risperdal out my system

Risperidone oral made me intractably constipated so my pdoc put me on the shot form Risperdal Consta. The shots worked so much better on my psychotic symptoms. So that was a plus.

@unique how long did it take for the risperdal injections to leave your system?
