Hello world. I am new here and this is my first post. I don’t know if there is a thread, maybe more than one, touching this topic but I need help with this. I have my DNA sequenced by a firm called Dante Labs. My DNA is supposed to be sequenced completely or almost completely. The problem is that I have the raw data in files and extensions I don’t know. I also have a DNA explorer where I can find any locus and theoretically search for alele variants or mutations I suppose. I am interested in knowing about risk genes for COMT, MTHFR, NRG1, ErbB4, AKT, DAOA, mGluR3, Dysbindin, DISC1, CHRNA7, and another more, but I don’t know how to know what allelic variants I have for these genes. I asked for a personal report at Dante Labs, geneticoncept, wegene… which I read here in the forum is where you find answers for example to your genetic predisposition to have low folate levels. The only lab that replied is wegene and told me that they can’t give me this information donno why. Can anybody help me with this? thank you so much!
I had a 23andme dna test and went to Xcode to analyse them. They gave me insight into diet, traits, iron levels etc.
@firemonkey is into the gene stuff analysis, perhaps he has a better suggestion.
I have a genetic disease. I’ll support you with the best of my knowledge.
So far, variants for schizophrenia have not bee classified as pathogenic- they’re in the beginning stages of discovery.
Wow. That’s the kind of report I am looking for. How can I get it?
Yes I know that, but some genes like COMT or MTHFR can give you very useful insights to decide what medication or complements suits better for you. Thanks in advance for your help
It’s temporarily been discontinued.
That’s sad. In www.xcode.life I see the most complete report, mega pack, costs 79€. I don’t have much money but I think it is worth the cost. Although I don’t know if the report is as complete as the one you showed.
How much did the xcode simplified promethease report cost you @firemonkey please?
It cost $20 1515
@whitemontana
So the cheapest method as you already have your dna sequenced would be to pay $12 for promethease and then $20 for the xcode simplified report when they restart it.
I just want to remember that companies that sell DNA tests own your genomic data and can use it for other purposes besides telling what are your odds of having some diseases.
Be careful guys, James Watson(one of the scientists who discovered DNA) had is DNA sequenced and after he knew the odds of developing some cancers asked for his sequence to be deleted of their databases.
There aren’t any legal stuff nowadays protecting your data, so be careful
I have been in touch with xcode as I have an account with them and they said:
" Hello Matthew! We will be restarting the report free of cost within the next 3 months. Please stay tuned for updates regarding this. Meanwhile, you can refer to this guide to understand your Promethease Report better:
Here’s Your Guide To Promethease Genetics Report "
So 3 months and I don’t know if it is free to non account users or not.
that happened to me a few years back when they were first coming to market. I purchased a health screening dna kit for my sister. They only provided me with the core results not the trait associations. I since got 23andme health and was able to get valuable insight on my gnetic predispositions for certian cancers and diseases. Which is super important to me because I study medicine and have a background in nutrition and health. Prevention is the only treatment for many diseases so knowledge is important. It would be a huge headache to try to do one indivudally so the best bet is to go with a different company and start from scratch.
