Results from my (legal) cannabis use

@Simonw legal and medical is stronger than street stuff in most cases. There’s also different strains that can cause different sensations.

For example, Indica makes me relaxed, helps with sleep, and pain. Hybrid makes me dizzy, paranoid, and anxious.

Legal dispensaries have knowledgeable staff that can explain the possible effects whereas with street, you get what you get most of the time.

Also, street stuff can be laced.

@anon4362788, are there pills?
I ask bc if it is legal, do you have to smoke it?

@anon22846033 I have no clue. I haven’t been to a dispensary. My husband has but he just mentioned edibles like gummies and brownies.

There’s vape juice cartridges which is what he purchased.

Great letter on the benefits of cannibus. It truly is a gift for some people. A year after my diagnosis I tried some and it made me paranoid but after awhile the paranoia went away and now I just reap the benefits of this plant. My psychiatrist agrees with occasional use to alleviate the negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

It isn’t for everyone. Szs really should be careful with it because it can cause Psychosis.

As I, said, with hybrid I get paranoid and anxious. It doesn’t feel nice at all. I can tolerate indica, but only a small amount.

However, the risk of paranoia for me is better than opioid addiction for pain. I’d rather not have to deal with either, so I avoid both most of the time and only touch cannabis if I have a very bad day. And only a small amount - 1 to 2 puffs vape.

My aunt had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer and she swears by the THC ointment she buys with her Minnesota medical card. My grandma who has severe back pain also derives a great benefit from the cream.

I like the idea of medicinal marijuana bc docs are getting pretty stingy when it comes to prescribing pain meds.

Ive read thru-out this thread with interest. Cos i learnt that people with Sz should not smoke weed. But the responses are interesting here.

When i smoked it - it certainley got rid of the Anhedonia. But the paranoia always kicked in and the voices would creep back.

I almost wish it suited me better, but as its still illegal in the uk, i would be risking my tenancy if the council found out as well.

Interesting. Not a drug that suits me tho. But im glad its had some positive aspects on other people.

(And normally i would say it cancels out your AP’s) but im gonna shut my gob on this occasion.

@anon4362788 I am taking Duloxetine at the moment, it keeps me between depression and psychosis, which anyone with schizoaffective disorder tries to do.
But I still only sleep about 2 hours at night, if I add Quetiapine it just makes me go to sleep quicker, but the total time I spend asleep isn’t much longer.
I can’t smoke cannabis because I have got a tracheostomy after an overdose in 2008, would edibles be an effective sleep aid?

It’s a possibility. I would start off with a small amount. Edibles are harder to dose than puffs of vape or herb.

Like a brownie, cut into 4ths. Or even 8ths. Eat one piece at a time until you reach the best dose for you.

If you can, try CBD first. A high dose of CBD is effective sleep aid for some.

Edibles? Probably @Simonw but it can take a few hours to take effect. Also, dosage needed is lower for edibles than other delivery methods.

I wish they would legalize hemp and marijuana, because I would grow my own hemp. I’ve grown marijuana in the past 3 times, but I’m more into hemp now days, marijuana is too potent for me.

I think I would grow some good cbd hemp plants. I think it’s good to grow plants of any kind, being one with nature.

Obviously not.

Did you read any of the testimonies of these people?

It clearly works, and well.

I wish I didn’t get psychotic from it. I would love it for my anxiety and chronic pain.

It ain’t harmless

It affects different people different ways. It’s been shown to help anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Also works as an appetite stimulant for cancer patients.

It can trigger psychosis in some, so yes, it isn’t harmless for all. But writing it off as “bad” is silly.

And it’s great for nausea from chemo.
