Restless Leg With Sleep Aids

So I used to take trazadone for sleep until it began giving me restless legs. It was awful, I needed to move them and got weird vibrations and zaps.

Then I used Benadryl. It was fine for a while, just used once in a while, until 2 nights ago. Same restless legs. Never felt sleepy at all until the restlessness wore off.

Anyone else have this happen?

When I’ve been on certain ap’s I had to be up pacing back and forth. I could not sit still. They took me to this assisted living center, and they had about twenty-five residents sitting at tables in this room watching a western movie. I took a seat, and I remained seated for less than a minute. I was up pacing back and forth. There was this woman there who I knew was no better than any of the other residents, but she was threatening me and telling me to sit down. I doubted if she had any real authority. I stayed sat down for about two minutes. After that everyone ate chow. I finished my meal and headed out on the highway where I had a LOT of walking to do.

The only time I got restless legs like that was when I came off abilify. It was like a withdrawal symptom. Actually on abilify it’s fine.

Are you getting an abilify injection? If so maybe you’re getting mini withdrawals as it comes up close to the time of the injection.

That’s all I can think of…

No, it’s only with trazadone and now benadryl. Within 20 minutes of taking them.

Never heard of restless legs from benadryl just looked it up online I guess it does

Its similar to akathisia, I had it severely with 120mg Latuda. Couldn’t stay still, hands and legs unconscious rotation at the same time couldn’t sleep and when I was able to sleep I woke up in the middle of the night from it. I felt that someone hijacked my mind and was controlling my body.

Cogentin 4mg fixed this but it took 30min to work so I switched to Risperdal 4mg, no more issues.

It’s annoying. But at least I know what triggers it and can avoid. I did have to take 1 benadryl yesterday because i was stung. That one made me tired, no restless legs. Probably takes 2, like when I tried to sleep.

Tried common old quetiapine? im always asleep within the hour of taking it.

No, never heard of it at all.

I get that whenever I take olanzapine before bed. If I’m sitting up or doing something it doesn’t happen. A really weird remedy I was told to try was eating some dried apricots. I swear it actually works sometimes haha.

I get restless leg syndrome as well from trazadone. I also take clozapine which I think is responsible for my restlessness.so I am spreading out the dosage, and that seems to work.

I used to get restless legs on Zyprexa.

Im sure it can be your sleep med - but it can also be other things.

It only ever happebs with trazadone and one with benadryl. So I’m sure what caused it.

If I take Benadryl for sleep it’s like electric bolts going through my legs.

I get restless legs easily

That’s a good way of describing it.

I stopped using Melatonin because of the restless legs. I’m pretty sure that some sleeping meds don’t do this while some others do.

Sorry to be rude - but arnt you abusing the Benydrl slightly to use as a sleep aid? If you said that to the chemist here - they wouldnt sell it to you. Its meant for colds and flu? Nevermind the paracetomol in it , that can knacker your liver.

It’s a known sleep aid. The active ingredient is used to make sleep aids here. It’s cheaper to buy allergy pills.

Also, benadryl doesn’t have tylenol in it at all.
