Very interesting! I hope they figure it out. But I also hope they won’t be too quick with preventative treatment. It’s not easy figuring out who’s going to develop schizophrenia, and there’s a reason it’s developed only in humans, so if you were to, say, “fix” genes that lead to schizophrenia, that could cause unforeseen consequences. But I’m really hopeful that this will lead to corrective treatments! Thanks for sharing!

It’s not a treatment, it has to do with the genetic basis for sz during fetal development.

I’m not sure how useful this will be for treatments, although, who knows, maybe CRISPR based therapies. It is useful for research because there’s a greater understanding of the sz brain.

I don’t have schiuxophrenia but I e had psychosis from bipolar disorder. My disorder was caused by heavy substance abuse according to my doctor.
So therefore this study wouldn’t apply to me would it?
I don’t think I had a developmental problem from birth like mostcschoxophrenics do.

That’s awesome news.
For people who are desperate for a cure( them and those who care about them) that’s awesome news.
