Reprogram brain towards positive thoughts

Is there a way to program your brain to automatically think positively ?

Church pastors/ministers are positive in speech as it is their job to be. I don’t think positivity in thought is automatic, it has to be trained.

You just have to develop the habit of examining your thinking. Is it too negative, or even unrealistic? And then think positively, or at least in a more constructive direction

The idea isn’t to make everything come up smelling like roses. It’s more about just not making it worse than it needs to be. As you become stronger, things affect you less

If positive thinking actually worked, this site would have close to no visitors. Everybody would be happy and successful.

Man is not a machine you can program to be happy, slim, fit, successful. Life is a complicated mess, but like @Cragger says, don’t make it worse than it is. Don’t revel in misery, try to avoid it or flee.

(sorry for being cynical, but it’s a bad day)

They are promoting these YouTube videos that have a lot of positive words playing for hours. Would that be helpful at all? I tend to reflect and feel what I hear and watch. I take things close to me. I was wondering if any have tried this?

There are positive affirmations that a lot of people use, and swear by them. Give it a try, it might be good

The mind does not work like an on or off button.

It takes repetitiveness for new patterns to be consolidated.

It is called learning and memory I think

It takes hard work sometimes especially for us because everything is ten times harder on meds and with trauma of psychosis

How do you do it? Do you just read sentences loud to yourself?

Yeah, you can speak them out loud or just to yourself in your head. Here is a site that someone else posted a while ago. It gives you the basic idea, and 25 examples to try. I use a few of them, that seem to ring true to me.
