I came off my meds and relapsed.

Keep doing whatever you’re doing! 5 years without relapse is great.

I came off Abilify. 2 years later I ended up psychotic in hospital. Then I went on Seroquel which nearly killed me.

So finally fack onto Abilify again and I haven’t had a relapse for 10 years now.

It is possible that relapse in future, in every 2-3 years.
The factors which effect the relapse is don’t take the medicine, don’t contact to your psychiatrist (because the psychiatrist my changes your medicine according to your symptoms), Use one antipsyotic medicine for very long period, your living conditions like Homeless.
To prevent relapse you should follow your psychiatrist doctor. You are unable to find out whenever you gonna to relapse, so your family members tell to you at that time.
I was relapsed in the year 2006 last time. Relapse means Episode.
Thanks.

Well, I’m no expert on relapses but from my own experience I was diagnosed in 1980 at age 19 and I was psychotic for the next 2 1/2 years straight. After I got out of the hospital in 1982 I became stable and lived my life; living semi independently, working, going to school, having friends and getting a car. Well, 6 years went by but when I was 27 in 1988 I had a relapse and was hospitalized 4 or 5 times in rapid succession. It took me about a year to recover from the relapse. One of the factors in my relapse through might have been that I was addicted to crack from 1986-1990. And incidentally, before my relapse (and during my relapse) I was taking my medication regularly.

Some good ways to prevent relapse is to take your medication as prescribed, avoid drugs and alcohol, eat a good diet, exercise, practice good sleep hygiene, have a good support system in place like family, friends, and a therapist and psychiatrist and avoid too much stress. And it’s important to do stuff for fun, you can’t spend all your time ruminating about your illness and your life, you need to get out and get some fresh air and go for a walk or do other fun stuff.

So I can’t predict if you will relapse but there is a chance.

A fellow asked me if I was single at a bicycle racing track I frequented. I asked if his daughter is looking to date or something. He told me he wanted grandchildren. This guy wanted me to get his daughter pregnant. This caught me off guard and sent me into relapse. It majorly stressed me out. Stressors like people imposing on my life severly seriously stress me out. When people do things to me or my family I relapse. I cant believe some people would do some things. Like wanting to come and live with me and my parents. Or asking my parents for help. My parents are in their late 80s and early 90s. People still will put all their stress on us when. It is not our responsibility and people don’t seem to care about stressing us. Things like this throw me into relapse.

I was doing well so, was off AP’s for about three months for the Dr to figure some things out.

Was doing alright with light but frequent psychosis, until it kicked in full force and was thrown into the delusion, audio visual and touch hallucinations again. Luckily I got help and was saved.

Yes you will relapse

I think… stress, worry, thinking of the old situation or delusion can trigger it

You cannot prevent it, it will happen on its own at any time
