Well, it’s not a benzo and that’s why my pdoc made me take it, but Buspirone is used to treat anxiety and it’s non-addictive. Just takes a while to take effect, like a week or two.
I also used to take hydroxypam or a name similar. It was also non-addictive and it was more like a cousin to benadryl. That worked almost immediately, but it made me a little sleepy and unable to drive after I took it. I kind of miss it, but there’s a thread here about how buspirone helps with negative symptoms (cognition, executive functioning, etc), so I plan on sticking with buspirone. If only I would remember to take it!
