Raising the Risperdal dose

I texted my psychiatrist and told her that I am getting more manic and paranoid.
She called me back within a minute.
She is raising my risperidone dose from 3mg to 4mg.
Going to increase it starting tomorrow.
Don’t want to go back to the Hospital so I’m taking precautions.
My pdoc is Awesome!

Yeah good work! Asking for help is usually the last thing we do and it’s good you recognise your symptoms enough that you can act on them! A good doctor is hard to find as psychiatry is a definate art! Keep on keeping on and hope you find some relief!

Thanks @far_cry0 @SunLion @rogueone

I’ve decided to give it one more day on my current dose of 3mg and I’ll see how I do.
I really don’t want to be on the higher doses of risperidone.
Trying to avoid going up on it if I can.
Any more signs of mood instability or paranoia and I’ll go ahead with the med increase.

Good luck with the increased dosage!

My pdoc recommends taking 4 mg as the maintenance (long-term) dose but I do okay with 2 mg.

In my limited experience, the worst side-effects are pretty much the same at 2 mg and 4 mg. So don’t worry about increasing the dosage to 4 mg

Have to give it a chance. Receptor occupancy is withing the first 24 hours but can be weeks till you get benefits. You’d like to give it six weeks at least…your doctor should be cool with that. They aren’t drugs you just stop or start on.
