Quick, easy, cheap meal. perfect for those who think they can't cook

Tostada Time!

I love these so much.

Pre made todadas shells
Canned refried beans. I love Rosarita jalapeno, it’s not really spicy but very flavorful
Shredded cheese, any kind, I love a nacho blend
Vine ripened, organic tomato, diced
Queso, optional
Sour cream
Lettuce. any kind, organic, shredded

You can choose to heat your beans or not. Simply spread a few spoons full of beans onto the tostada shell, add lots of cheese, tomatoes, and a tiny bit of queso, a few spoons full of sour cream and a hand full of lettuce shreds. Whatever falls off your first tostada can go on your second, cus you are gonna want a second, lol.

It makes you feel like you know how to cook because it tastes so good. But you never cooked a thing. Great for the upcoming warmer weather. Easy to customize, use refried black beans, add corn, add cilantro. Take your tostada to the next level for those of you who do cook and add meat.

I’ve not seen pre-made tostada shells up here where I live.

oh, well. That’s a shame. They make it easy. You can also do something like it with chips and make nachos. I make handcrafted nachos, instead of just a big pile. Selecting whole chips from the bag and building each nacho to ensure every chip has a little of all toppings. You can use fresh tomatoes instead of salsa, or even make fresh salsa and it’s wonderful. But it’s hard to add lettuce because of the chips small size. But I have done it to my own plate knowing it was going to be messy.

My family makes taco salad with corn chips. Browning hamburger meat with taco seasoning is not difficult either.

we love quesadillas…cook up some taco meat out of hamburger meat, have shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes…heat up a flour tortilla in a skillet and add half of the tortilla with taco meat and cheddar cheese over all of it…when it’s baked on there a bit to brown the tortilla, half turn the side without taco meat over on top of the other side of the tortilla…kind of making a half moon tortilla…and serve with sour cream, salsa, lettuce and tomatoes…enjoy.

It sounds good, but knowing me I’d probably knock the shells onto the floor while filling them.

Melt generous portion of cheddar cheese in double boiler
Add some beer
Let it boil off the alcohol
Serve on white bread toast

We make tostadas quite often. We use Morningstar Griller Crumbles instead of ground beef. Tasty!

Omg that sounds yummy. The very best tomatoes that the grocery store as every week is always the star of my weekly menu. Tomatoes are one of my very favorite things. Whether it be on salads, open face sammies or melts, or Mexican fare I find a way to feature them. This little mozzarella salad looks wonderful. I could see me doing it with a bit of this gourmet sweet balsamic I’m picking up next time I go to GO.

A lot of salads are fairly easy to make.
You literally just cut vegetables and add sauce.

Of course potatoes, eggs and meat need to be cooked if you use them.

I have a “chicken salad” and a “potato and egg” salad I prepare fairly regularly. Very tasty for how little work goes into it.

I love a lot of salads. I only ever stop eating them when I am unable to get good lettuce. Recently I’ve had trouble swallowing. I noticed however salad was one thing I could still get down easily, and other veggies to. lol, I could also get down sweets.

Oh man, I’m afraid of things that say hot, spicy, heat or anything like that. But I, on a whim ordered some hot and spicy noodle bowls online to try and I had one yesterday. It wasn’t too hot for me. It was divine. I loved it. I’m going to buy a bunch more and stop ordering my boring chicken bowl that I liked to have handy in my pantry. And yes adding a little salsa for some added flavor and a little vitamin c is a great easy idea. Good one!

I’m so glad you got some.
I love them for the taste cost ratio. Its taste way better than the cost.
I think adding some mild salsa also neutralizes some spiciness.
Not a chemist/cook but. From my own taste.
Another thing - not doing dishes afterwards.
