Okay the general consensus is that coffee, in small quantities, is actually good for your health. I think if you have a couple of cups per day, it is actually good for you. However, when you start having 5+ cups a day, it can start causing issues like loss of sleep and the like. I drink about 2 - 3 coffees a day and it has no impact on my schizophrenia.
I drink a lot of it.
Sometimes it amps me up , other times I don’t feel a thing.
For whatever reason caffeine doesn’t affect my sleep.
I guess I’ve just grown accustomed to it.
Coffee increases your metabolic rate, keeps you alert, and improves athletic performance I drink a cup or two before I work out.
Coffee makes me anxious.
I dont really like it
moderation is the key in most things
Coffee shouldn’t affect your schizophrenia. As mentioned there are benefits to drinking coffee. I think if you have 10 cups a day you would be jittery though.
I drink coffee everyday. I tried to quit but with the groggy side effects of my medication it was very difficult. If I drink too much it exacerbates my positive symptoms. If I drink 1~3 cups a day it seems to be okay and gives me energy.
I feel it fluctuates. Sometimes i get nervous or anxious and sometimes it makes me feel good.
Anyway, i like coffee. Im an addict. I tried quitting and i let it go for now, focus is somewhere else. I do drink less than before.
I have no reason to quit at the moment. Coffee is healthy for you if you drink under 6 cups a day. It is nice just to relax with a cup of coffee for an hour.
Thanks for sharing @BriannaXoLynn. Welcome to the sz forum! Look forward to more conversations.
It’s interesting because I have felt the same, but rarely does it happen. Most of the time it’s nice, but I can vividly remember a few occasions where it made me feel anxious and amplified my mania. I never drink more than two cups a day.
I have anywhere from 2 to 5 cups a day. I used to drink much more. Its best if I keep it to no more than 3.
I gave up coffee for like 6 months. I am back on it. I usually have 1-3 cups a day. When I was off it I didn’t notice any difference to health either way so I’d rather have the coffee to help fight sedation.
I think the moderation is the key. Caffeine in large doses is a problem. Moderate to light consumption probably isn’t that bad.
On some meds coffee makes my anxiety and restlessness worse. It will be pretty obvious if/when it happens.
