Question about refrigerated foods

How long is yogurt and other perishables safe in an insulated lunch bag?

I know it’s good for up to 2 hours at room temperature

But does that apply to insulated lunch bags??

I will eat room temperature food next day if I forgot to refrigerate it.

99% fine. Only my half and half went bad but it was also near expiration. If it wasn’t I’m sure it would have survived

Yeah I haven’t died.

But I just asked ai and it warned about yogurt and milk curdling as a sign of bacteria growth.

@77nick77 my quick search only found at room temperature results. My question is different. But it was all AI answers. Maybe I should search with DuckDuckGo

Ok @77nick77 , I used DuckDuckGo. I need at least 2 ice packs in the insulated bag to keep it safe for several hours

I don’t have a thermos. I just have an insulated lunch bag.

Yeah. I’m going to buy 2 ice packs.

if its just for lunch i wouldnt worry about it. can probably go hours and hours. im pretty sure back in the day even if they left the milk out they wouldnt throw it away. theyd just call it buttermilk and still use it.

yogurts good for a day id say

Yoghurt is pasteurised, usually made from UHT milk, and has some preservatives in it. Half a day out the fridge would be fine. Think about when we put yoghurts in kids’ lunchboxes and those lunchboxes spend hours before being open/consumed. All is well usually no?

My daughter had medical needs so I brought her lunch everyday at lunchtime when she was in public school, or had the lunch lady prepare her food when I had her in private school.

But yeah, I think so long as I buy 2 ice packs, it’ll be good for the day. Thanks!
