Okay so i saw the psychologist yesterday basically i told her i want to know what is wrong with me because my family is asking questions i cant answer and she said that the Psychiatrist thinks its schizophrenia but she thinks its extreme anxiety and psychosis so whats the difference? She said well schizophrenic people are schizophrenic all the time and you know your hallucinations arent real and im fine with your “friends” (my three so called imaginary friends she says are a coping mechanism i came up with because of stress and loneliness) So they are going to compare notes and see me in a week and a half and maybe increse my meds because theyre losing effectiveness. So I dont really get what she meant but thats where Im at any opinions? What do you guys think about all that Jazz
It’ll be interesting to see what conclusion they eventually come to.
yeah its getting annoying but we’ll see
theyre taking into consideration my high IQ and the fact that Im a successful artist
One potential difference that comes to mind is that schizophrenia is usually only diagnosed when you’ve had symptoms continuously for at least six months. Also, you need more of the main symptoms than just hallucinations. The main symptoms AFAIK are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, disorganized behavior and negative symptoms.
Schizoaffective disorder depressive type is my diagnosis now
At least you have an answer for yourself and your family now. I have schizoaffective bipolar-type.
My first diagnosis was nonspecific anxiety and psychotic disorder as well. For people with psychosis but who are high functioning or have good awareness getting an official diagnosis can take some time.
I was told by a few nurses that you could see 10 Pdoc and all would have a different opinion and over the years I’ve seen over 10 and it seems to be true. I have a high IQ for someone with my education etc and run a business, my sz comes and goes, in other words sometimes it’s worse than others, personally I think I’m sz with bi-polar features.
Will take some time, information on line and pdocs to figure it all out
