Dx Craziness

So a year ago my then team agreed I was schizophrenic and not schizoaffective. I’ve simply never been manic or clinically depressed. Well a few weeks ago I was at my current pdoc and I stole a look at my list of dx’s.
Schizophrenic wasn’t on it, but schizoaffective and MDD were!

Isn’t MDD Major Depressional Disorder?
I literally don’t have it. Much of the time I’m quite happy. Probably most of the time.

It’s common that diagnosis changes over time. Meds and the progress of the disorder itself make a difference and I’ve found that certain trends are local as well amongst the psydocs themselves.

Important thing is to take the meds as prescribed and try utmost for best function. Don’t get bogged down in the semantics of it all.

As long as you’re on the right meds, I don’t think the actual diagnosis matters a whole lot to be honest.

It’s largely guesswork diagnosing you anyways.

I’m taking everything, but things aren’t that great with certain things. I need Rexulti. bad. My current Psych doc has to leave in a few months. I don’t know how that will influence things.

For me at least, Aristada suuuuuuucks.

I had BiPolar first then the schizophrenic symptoms manifested, so Schizoaffective was the logical diagnosis. I think it’s accurate, and does a good job of labeling the symptoms.

I’ve always been psychosis plus depression.

I feel like I’ve got anxiety disorder too but I guess I don’t talk about it enough for them to dx me.
