Question about headaches

Before you begin reading this, please don’t suggest anything OTC.

My headaches come and go, they’re either on one side of the head (migraine?) or a tension headache. Clonazepam doesn’t even help.

Does anyone know any nootropic/supplement (something other than Advil/Tylenol) that can help dull the pain?

An ice pack. 12 min on, 15 min off or thereabouts.

If it is a migraine, try drinking something cold. That helps my friend. Caffeine helps me. Some iced coffee or a nice cold coke.

I get migraines a lot. massaging the neck and the base of the skull can help relieve some tension. Also there are neck stretches you can do to help. The best thing for it is darkness and cold so ice is good. A lot of people say caffeine helps.

Tbh there’s not much that can help eliminate a migraine altogether. If its chronic try to keep a headache diary recounting any notable events that cause stress, and what you’ve eaten that day, also record how the headache progressed.

A headache journal can help you learn what causes them so you can avoid the trigger

Tbh my migraines get so bad I actually have a script for Percocet. But there are other migraine prescriptions out there but you have to ask your doc about the drug interactions.

Oh also if you do the journal thing and you have periods keep track of those too.

Feel better friend

Sorry I don’t know of any nootropics with that effect. I had one last night and since I couldn’t get any Tylenol 1s (codeine) I just had a hot shower which helped a lot.

I use gabapentin and Zomig for my headaches and migraines.

Talk with an MD re: migraine management - there are a lot of options. Propanolol helped me.

Depakote I actually found out is a treatment for migraines. There are a number of medications used to prevent them, you would have to see a neurologist about that.

I get migraines. I can suggest things to try to prevent also ? Like staying away from old fluorescent lighting (if possible) and also keeping hydrated.

If you can find out what triggers them that’s good. It could be spicy food or perfume.

Hope it helps.

I get migraines. I alternate the prescription drug, Imitrex, with the OTC drug, Excedrin Migraine. I also use frozen vegetable bags over my eyes, when I have a migraine, for about 20-30 minutes, after taking one of these meds. Works like a charm. Gets rid of my migraines almost every time. And I can get migraines that reach a 20 pain level on a 1-10 scale.

For me there’s two major things I noticed that can trigger my migraines and that’s being tired and for some weird reason having anything with artificial sweetener. I’ve never been able to have sugar free anything because it gives me migraines and makes me generally ill.

It’s good you know what trigger yours. I don’t know all of mine. I know a stuffy room, Chinese foods, and old fluorescent lighting does it. But sometimes I get them and don’t know why.

Visual stuff that goes along with migraines and other weird symptoms can be scary but if it’s beem checked out and u know it’s a migraines just be relieved and tell yourself it’s the migraine. Pain usually subsided with me with co codamol. That’s the only thing that works. We get it over the counter in U.K. but I’m very sensitive to any pain relief. Especially ibuprofen.

I don’t get any auras thankfully. Sometimes I do feel lightheaded and just weird before getting one, or nauseous though.

I have excedrin for migraines and it works well.

I took excerdrin when I lived in the US. It’s good stuff. But strong and irritated by stomach. But the stuff really worked. The only stuff I could get OTC that worked.

Doesn’t irritate my stomach but the issue is if I get a migraine at night (which I often do) the caffeine in the excedrin keeps me awake all night :disappointed: It has a ton of caffeine in it (caffeine actually helps w migraines fun fact)
