Question about... hair

My hair is very oily. Overall my skin is also oily. And yup I shower a lot, because I simply need it. No need to explain furhter probably

Reason why I ask is my hair became… My hair became very dry because I wash it everyday.

Like… at the same way my roots are oily, but endings very very dry. i tried to wash it every second day, but then the scalp becomes itchy the second day.
So, probably question for ladies… what to do with my hair? :frowning:

I’m not a lady that I’m aware of.

Actually hold on. Let me check.

Nope, still fully intact.

But I heard that the more you wash your hair it will dry out your scalp and produce more oil.

This was actually a topic on this forum several months back, so thats where I got the info.

Do with this what you will…

If you dye your hair, this can be damage caused by the dye. Likewise, this can be caused by heating products (straightener, hair dryer).

A good moisturizing mask a couple of times a week is really a good idea. Also, be careful not to over-shampoo your hair. Some shampoos are gentle enough for daily use but not all. And always, always use conditioner. My favorite products are Biolage shampoo, detangling conditioner, and hydrasource mask. I almost always let my hair air dry, and I use Mistress IGK for leave-in moisture in addition to Paul Mitchell Sleek & Shine for frizz controll. If I am going to use heat products like my hair dryer, I use protectant creams and sprays. I’m fairly new to those, so I don’t know what they are, and it’s honestly too dark to see my hair stuff without bothering hubby with light (he’s sleeping). Anyhow, I hope that helps a little. You can always look up product dupes to save a little money. I get my products on 50% off hair days at Ulta, but dupes are great.

Yeah, in infamy; like him.

Not dyeing it anymore… atleast for three months. Growing back my natural roots  Literally interested to see how I’ll look in year or two, with full grown natural hair color.

Yeee I am using masks! Just probably need to do it more often. Because I do it once in a week or two.
Never using heat products as a hair dryer…
I believe the biggest problem is that I wash it too often. and probably i need to find the best hair products for my own hair. I have several favourites, but maybe I need more help for my hair.
Yee sad that hair products are so expensive… lots of stuff is expensive nowadays. :frowning:

Sounds like you’re on your way to healthier hair. Mine was curly-ish until I dyed it purple. Now I’m piling on the moisture to try to encourage it to come back.

I could not agree more on the expensive aspect of things. Yeesh- how do they think we still have enough money to buy their stuff if they don’t pay better wages?

Well, I’m actually on disability, but it’s the principle.

I was told by hairdressers not to shampoo very often. When I went from shampooing every day, to every other day, my hairdresser said it was better.

Someone I knew who’s best friend was a hairdresser, washed her hair every third day. That’s what my daughter and I aim to do. Sometimes we stretch it another day. Our hair is healthy. By the way, I have a partial caramel highlight in my hair too.

My wife was having the same problem so she started using a product called Moroccan Oil after shampooing to make her hair healthier. It visibly looks better to me and she says it feels better to her now.

I used to have the same issues - oily scalp, dry ends, and itchy scalp if I skipped a day. I switched to a shampoo, one from Shea Moisture, that has apple cider vinegar in it. It has no sulfates, parabens …etc.

After using that shampoo for a while, my scalp and hair became much healthier and I could wash it every other day without needing a medicated shampoo. It took a little while for my scalp and hair to get better. I also use Shae Moisture conditioner for curly hair, but just a little bit and only on my ends.

Hope this helps!

We have this production in my country in a one shop! And affordable price I need to say.
Big thanks for you, I will try it!

Because I have found one line which really helped my hair with dryness, but didn’t helped with oillyness. Only made it worse…

When you first start using it you might notice you’re a little oily as your scalp and hair adjust because it is moisturizing. But use it for a while before giving up. I had an adjustment period.

okay i’ll keep that in mind. Because I have very little patience

Also, just fyi, when you use a moisturizing shampoo without all the nasty chemicals your scalp realizes it bbc doesn’t have to produce so much oil anymore. It’s the opposite of what you’d expect

my hair and skin is the opposite of oily. i am very prone to dandruff and used to use moisturizing shampoo daily and next day would already be flaking. ive started just washing my hair twice a week and rinse with water in the shower daily for moisture. also i use coconut oil shampoo, cream and pure oil but past few days havent used it and no problems
