I really believe there is one Soul, one Being and I’m that. I am pure solipsist. I have it since childhood.
I have the mustache of Meher Baba. His mustache has Grace and Soul
OMG am I losing my mind again?
I hope not. The problem of solipsism, and not only for sz, is that hinges on foundational philosophical problems with a strong existential tinge, it is humanly compelling even if contradicted at every turn by intersubjectivity. In regards to sz you probably remember this article, totally worth it. Self_Solipsism_and_Schizophrenic_Delusions.pdf (202.8 KB)
If nothing exists outside of your mind, then wouldn’t you have control over everything? I think the fact that we can only control ourselves proves that things exist outside of our own minds.
We cannot even control overselves -illness is a powerful reminder of this- let alone the contents in our minds.
We may have periods of our lives or parts of our minds that are out of our control. But I can still choose who to love, what to eat, where to walk, how I react to situations most of the time, etc.
I cannot control any if those things for others nor can I control any aspect of nature.
Therefore, I take this as proof that things exist outside of my mind.
Well, in a dream you may see these things too, but they’re only your mind
Good point but the moment you realize you’re dreaming, you have control over everything in the dream.
That could be granted only if there were such a thing as free will, which there isn’t. Causality wise, there is no difference between “inside” and “outside”.
Interesting take on no freel will. Would that mean we are under the control of something outside of us?
I have the armpit and back hair of Ron Jeremy. It’s not a flattering look.
Sounds like when we were kids and my father used to
make us slurp spilled milk sideways from the counter.
It would mean there is no “inside”, everything is outside.
