Do any of you utilize public transit like buses or the rail?
If so how often? And what are your thoughts on the experience?
It’s been real bliss for me. It makes my town feel large and busy, without it being annoying. I get to just sit and space out while it all moves around me. Seeing random strangers is nice now that I’m in a more sympathetic phase.
My goal is to have an interesting day every day, and not spend more than 10$ in doing it. Get my monthly bus pass and I can actually swing a lot of good deals. I might look like a cheapskate, but those kinds of purchases do add up.
I have to walk about a mile to get to the bus stop so I’m getting exercise as well. Even got a nice sunburn going… Might even get a tan this year.
I take the bus/light rail pretty much everywhere. I can’t drive, so if Mr LED isn’t home to take me I take public transit. Luckily public transit is really good in this city and it’s only $2.50 for a day pass since I’m disabled.
When I get bored and want to explore I’ll take the bus to a new place, but since moving I haven’t gone anywhere. I don’t know the bus routes around here yet so it makes me nervous. Once it stops raining and warms up a bit I’ll probably explore some.
I hardly ever use it. Buses ,the problem is getting off at the right place and even then making my way from the stop to my destination. Trains are easier . Just look out for the station name , but then there’s finding my way around after that .
I have the same problem @firemonkey, I feel so stupid sometimes because I struggle to find my way around even familiar places, but trains are easier than buses because they announce the stops and destinations regularly.
Our buses have a marquee that announces stops and if I do go somewhere new and it’s important I get there on time I just let the bus driver know the stop I need and they always tell me when it’s coming up. It took some courage to ask for help, but I saw people doing this all the time so I figured it wasn’t that big of a deal.
I’m contemplating selling my truck and riding the bus everywhere. I don’t enjoy driving anymore, since when I used to drink I had a few accidents. Wouldn’t trust myself behind the wheel now, what with my meds and instability. I currently take taxis to my appointments.
