PTSD and fireworks dont mix

Very thankful for noise cancelling headphones right now. I’m all about the reason and celebration of the fourth, but hearing loud unexpected booms every few minutes has my hypervigilance and anxiety super high. Just ready for it to be tomorrow.

I am in the same boat. Laying in bed with headphones in. :t_rex::t_rex::t_rex:

Hope they’re helping you Gray. Mine are taking the edge off, but I can still kinda hear the pops and booms.

That is good. Yeah mine are not too bad as of now. But, the big ones have not started yet. :bird::bird::bird:

Gotcha. I heard one or two big ones which prompted the headphones. Was going to run out and get some supper, but not so sure now.

Yeah I don’t like the loud booms.
Makes me uneasy!

I’m doing the same with a headset on.

I did something different this year. I usually have flashbacks and cower in the corner with a pillow over my head. One of my traumas involves shooting of a gun close to me.

I went outside and got some air. I was in the mood to fight it off, this year. I had to call the crisis line…no, not suicidal…needed to get out of my head.

I was brave! I’m glad I did it!
