a policeman showed up at my house one time, offered to take me to the emergency room. Citing that someone had called the police saying I was behaving strangely. I went to the ER thinking I was fine, ended up staying 6 days. The police officer 
called it a wellness check,
Yea It’s the reason I have to keep my phone on… If I’m not contactable I run that risk!

I know that personally I’ve been treated like crap by ER staff workers, including Psych nurses and staff.
I have also been treated like a criminal by certain cops.
The system sucks, that’s for sure

I’m really good at lying when I don’t want to be admitted. I can convince them I’m not sick. Done it before.
Plus I have a habit of going to the hospital BEFORE I have a psychotic break. I can tell when it’s about to happen. I’ve noticed if you go before, it’s much easier. Far less drama and no Haldol injections! My theory is if I go before I get too bad, they can help me prevent it from getting worse. Usually works.
