Prolactin(?) problem

I’m on invega sustenna, and I’m wondering if there are any other options for me regarding antipsychotic medication. I’ve heard abilify is better for prolactin, but I had a bad reaction to it. Are there any medications similar to invega that don’t raise prolactin levels?

Individuals respond differently to the same drug. That being said, there are many different antipsychotics…

I have the same questions. Invega has raised my prolactin levels sky high but Invega appears to be the only med that controls psychosis and paranoia.

Every other meds other than risperidone and amisulpride should be safe for prolactin.
Other meds that are light like invega are Vraylar, Latuda and Geodon.

I’m on Invega and I told my doctor to add 5 mg abilify supposedly this will lower your prolactin. I have used the additional 5 mg of the ability for 1.5 months now. I feel much better. I don’t know how much my prolactin has gone down. Dose anybody know how long it takes for the body to lower prolactin?

Unpleasant to get milk in your Boobs on risperdal yeah. My experience.
Zyprexa (olanzapine) is a good antipsychotic (aware of weight Gain)

Mens too can get milk from boobs bcz of prolactine. A user here a few weeks ago had boobs milk and he’s a man.

My family doctor told me that my Testosterone levels are on the low side.
Higher prolactin levels can lower your testosterone levels.

I’m pretty sure that’s how it works.
He told me that Risperdal is to blame in my case.

I am on 800mg Amisulpride, and after 2 months of 5mg Abilify, my prolactin was actually higher than it was before I started

Prolactine actually helped me bcz I was hypersexual on Abilify. Maybe my sex drive is naturally high. Hypersexuality is a bad thing for me as I did very risky things.

Oh really, I don’t know how it works I just read a study that was talking about Invega being used with ability to lower prolactin. My sister is a medical student and she told me that it can take up to 6 months to see an effect

I read this and learned that ability can lower prolactin. All my side effect are not gone after 1.5 months, but I have more energy now on the additional 5 mg abilify on top of 100 mg xeplion/invaga

I instantly wanted off the Abilify when the result came back, but the pdoc wanted to wait longer.

He is ok with my prolactin being high, but I am not. We disagree on the benefit/risk ratio of my current medications.

Yes it maybe takes time for abilify to lower prolactin? I dont know  what did he tell you?

I am unable to speak to him unless he chooses to call.

My case worker isn’t that great on detail unfortunately.

My prolactin has increased on invega sustenna to 19 which is the uppermost limit of the normal range. Nobody had the foresight to check my prolactin levels before going on the medicine so I don’t know what was normal for me. As it is high side of normal I don’t have milk production in breasts (im male) but my sex drive is minimal, have severe erectile dysfunction, and perceive that my penis and testicles have shrunk. Of all the antipsychotics I’ve taken I think the one that doesn’t affect prolactin is Olanzapine. Although I didn’t like that medicine for the medicated way it made me feel and only stayed on it for a few months.

My prolactin has been high for atleast 2 years on invega sustenna, my doctor prescribed me meds for it but they don’t work. Need to get off this shot.

You can try adjunctive abilify ,do suggest it to your doctor though, there has been research on adjunctive abilify lowering prolactin with risperidone
