Pressured by intrusive thoughts

I don’t have peace of mind, I am constantly troubled by intrusive thoughts that I don’t want to live,
I can’t be at peace ,
I don’t think that I am content with my life, I want to change to transform,
but so long as this is not possible I want to live to best of my abilities,
I don’t like life but I have to continue somehow, I will be glad to get advice on how to get rid of intrusive thoughts.

put some music erez.

I have the same problem with intrusive thoughts. The intrusive thoughts are having a major negative impact on my life. I’m seeing a therapist about them, but have just started therapy. If I find some helpful advice from my therapist on controlling intrusive thoughts I’ll share it with you, but that’ll be weeks.

I’m also very open to anyone’s advice on controlling intrusive thoughts.

Maybe you need a better med? I am like that when the meds don’t work

don’t know if it qualify as intrusive thoughts, but back when i watched pr0n, i had thoughts that i couldn’t control. when i stopped, the first few days were still bad, but I eventually got more control over my mind as well as what I allow to go in and out of it. erez, a doc can help you overcome intrusive thoughts.

I also have intrusive thought but mine are about hurting others not myself it’s almost like there’s a separate brain in my head that thinks it’s own things and pushes them into my mind so I see it and feel it The best way I deal with them is visualizing in my head putting them in safes or into a fire or visualizeing walls to keep them out

Intrusive thoughts are my main symptom, I cope with them through medication.

The issue might be too little serotonin, repetitive self-defeating thoughts are a symptom of this. One way of dealing with this is adding an antidepressant, or SSRI.

@lostinthespace had some success getting rid of intrusive thoughts with an antidepressant.

Anafranil is an antidepressant which is approved for OCD. OCD patients often have intrusive thoughts.

Some antipsychotics are said to decrease anxiety, Risperidone and Seroquel both have this effect. I won’t go into the pharmacology of it because I can’t remember.

Another option is, if the thoughts alarm you or cause arousal an anxiolytic (benzodiazepine) like Xanax could help.

Like Lil Uzi said, xanny help the pain yo, please xanny make it go away.

On a serious note ignoring or thinking through intrusive thoughts is effective if the thoughts are milder in intensity or complexity. @brugluiz has done this I believe.

Yes. I try to question these thoughts but lately I have just ignored them. But questioning them is a good way to relieve anxiety.

When I had intrusive thoughts really badly I would take a page from the BDSM playbook and use a safe word. I used the name of the guy who I thought was my lover when I was psychotic. So, use a word or name with significance and that will help somewhat to dispel those thoughts. Make sure that you try to start thinking of something else immediately.

Yes!! My antidepressant has helped with that! I no longer get intrusive thoughts. And i can be comfortable around my family again without all of those intrusive thoughts about them plagueing my mind

Sorry you’re feeling that. I go through the same thing. Feel tortured too. I imagine things that are not there. I wonder how you feel?
