Possible causes to my depression?

Recently I felt depressed every morning when I woke up. It’s been two weeks and started to affect my moods during the day. I booked a session with a psychologist at a psychology clinic. Then I talked about it with a Sz friend. She listened to me and then doubted if seeing a psychologist would be helpful, because she thought my depression could be a sign that the dose of Olanzapine which I am taking daily wasn’t enough.

I think what my Chinese Sz friend said about cause of my depression is right. What do you think?

Sometimes there are reasons for the depression we can get out in the open.

There is a reason. A chemical inbalance in our brains. You can ask for antidepressants to your pdoc.

We cant really know from here what the reason is. I dont believe in the chemical imbalance theory, but maybe you do.

Could you take a good look at your life and your feelings what they are coming from? Is there anything you can solve (e.g. a bad relationship), deal with (e.g. guilt) or do (e.g. exercise, eat healthy) to feel better?

I would always look at such things first. But that’s just me. Maybe you prefer trying to raise meds first. Are you paranoid to? Or just depressed?

Sometimes we have good reason to be depressed and just aren’t aware of it. How’s your life been going? What kinds of stuff have been happening?

Sometimes also we have no good reason to be depressed-our brains are just broken.

If it’s a very unusual depression for you, even with your normal sz symptoms, then yes definitely medication might be what you need. I’m going through something similar. While I’ve struggled with my sz symptoms, I was never a “depressed” person where I needed meds for it. But I’m going through a tough time and they’ve added a mood stabilizer. Seems to be helping so far… Good for you talking with your medical team.

I’d say if you can’t pinpoint a clear reason for why you feel depressed, you need an antidepressant.

Do you have sza? I have psychotic depression and I tend to have depressive episodes.

It’s probably best to be on an antidepressant.
