Poor ppl usually dont get mental illness?

i hear sometime
those who cant afford getting medications
usually heal by themselves without medication
i wonder if you hear something like that before
how?
they usually think mental illness is easy to deal with in comparison with not getting food
or other essentials
i know there sometypes of illness cant be beared
i think i am talking about minor illnesses
also
mentally illness 's severity can be misdiagnosed in person who like to blame a lot
poor ppl dont have this welfare to blame alot

They have found that schizophrenics in poorer, third world countries recover better then schizophrenics in industrialized nations.

It’s not because they lack medicines. It’s because people in third world countries often have better social support networks with family and friends, communities, etc.

One reason I heard is that in poorer countries everyone needs to help each other to subsist in a family and so they even rely on the schizophrenic person to do whatever he/she can do. It strengthens their bonds and their feeling of belonging and feeling useful and needed which is good for their mental health.

And just in general, living in a rural setting is less stressful than living in crowded big cities or areas with lots of industry.

I really don’t know the facts, but i believe poor people just have it bad as us or worse. You dont really know because your not in their minds.

I don’t get your statement. Almost everybody in the US with a severe MI is poor. Aren’t they? Aren’t they all on SSI or SSDI? That’s not much money.

It because they get burnt by witch doctors as they believed to have evil spirits and death is normally scarier that SZ at the time !

I can tell you that you are a lucky person to not live in the tribes of Africa and have a MI !

Personally, I feel better living in Thailand than America. I feel depressed in America. I wouldn’t feel good in a country like India though.

Yeah that could be a real nightmare couldn’t it. Imagine not having access to medicine and being terribly sick with psychosis and them trying to purge the demons from you using some useless rituals. UGH!

It’s not about being poor or not. It’s about being in a healthy and safe environment with loving people around. You can be rich and be living in a third world country too!
