Poor kitty's leg!

I kept hearing a kitty meowing, but it didn’t sound unusual, just a couple of random cries, so I wasn’t too concerned because there are quite a few strays outside.

After a few hours, I heard it cry a couple more times, again, nothing unusual about it.
At noon, I heard it again, sounded exactly the same, so I investigated, and found one of the kitties- a small one, had jumped from the neighbors yard up onto the fence in between us and got it’s leg stuck in the narrow gap between the boards.

Not good. The poor thing was on our side kinda hanging on at a weird angle, when I realized it was stuck. I got an old thick towel and tossed it over it so it couldn’t bite me-which it tried, but I wrapped it several times around and held it up trying to get it out.

Nope, it was stuck tight, so I yelled for my husband to come help, and he pushed with all his strength to bend the boards apart, then I wiggled it’s leg loose and finally got it out.

Poor baby, he was worn out having to hang up there so long!
I carefully unwrapped him and he just payed there for a minute, then ran off, limp foot in tow, right under our back porch.

I feel terrible I didn’t get to him sooner, soooo glad I don’t have any children, I can’t imagine how terrible of a mother I would have been…just glad I didn’t have any.

This happened to my cat in my house! I had wire shelves in my closet and he got his hind leg hooked between the wires and hung there like a snared rabbit. He was a big boy, too.

Good job on finding and rescuing your kitten. While I know where you coming from about kids and feel the same, I am absolutely sure you wouldn’t have sixteen outdoor kids if you were a parent :joy_cat: It’s a tough job to find a tiny kitten outdoors.

Update on the kitty. I put out some wet canned food for them in the hopes the injured guy would show up, and he did!
He’s limping just a bit, but he’s going to be okay!

Little ones aren’t as fragile as the old folks, they bounce back pretty fast, but still, the guilt of how long he had been hanging on that 6 foot fence with no one to help him.
But he’s safe now.
I feel so much better.

@Rhubot, I’m not so sure, if I had 16 kids, I’m afraid they would all be outside, because I’d insist on it.
