Poll: What's the reason for stopping threads at 1000 replies?

I wonder what would happen if we let replies on threads get too far past 1000.

• The forum would explode into tiny little fragments
• Dogs begin talking to cats
• General mass hysteria
• Thread counts going past 1000 is one of the signs of the Apocalypse
• The moderators would grow wings and fly away
• Life would continue on as usual
