By schizophrenia I mean delusions/voices/hallucinations or just even “thinking” about schizophrenia. Anything schizophrenia related.

How much of your mental energy is effectively wasted due to having schizophrenia.

I’ve put a whopping 90% for myself.

I spend most of my time afraid with other problems not related to schizophrenia

Idk what Im afraid of is way scarier than schizophrenia and is amplified by the paranoia of schizophrenia. Its miserable really

I spend about 75% of my mental energy on sza symptoms and what results from said symptoms, whether that be anxiety about going out or calling a friend to avoid going to the hospital. The other 25% goes to normal stuff like grocery shopping and paying the rent. I realize 75% is a lot, but that’s my life with the disorder…it’s probably why i average 3 hospitalizations a year.

Are you?
Asking what percentage are we battling our schizophrenia?
Or are you thinking. How much time do you put in? To controllers Are schizophrenia?
Or are you trying to find out how much time we spend wasted on schizophrenia??

I admit it’s a bit confusing.

But I’m asking everything you mentioned.

My physical issues cause me more problems than my mental ones. It’s easier for me to tamper down my mental health problems than ignore what I’m physically unable to do and all the time I dedicate caring for my physical well being.

I said twenty five percent…I’m sure that fluctuates according to my stress levels…lately worrying about the hospital visit it’s around 35 percent..

I would say 5% is my working brain and in that 90% I used to filter away thoughts. And remaining 10 % I live life as it comes.

I used to think about schizophrenia 24/7, until I totally revamped my diet. I’ve learned a lot about this illness, it’s not easy.

I think diet helps a lot, meds and exercise. Changing my eating habits has helped so I’m gonna stick with it and continue to learn more stuff about food.

The internet has helped big time, any questions I have I can simply google. Like a lot of people on this site…the internet has helped them as well.

Best of luck @everhopeful

Maybe you need a med change. You could try small dose abilify with another added antipsychotic. Kinda balance your dopamine out that way.

That’s what a lot of people I know do

I try to live my life and deal with the associated health problems. Other people are more obsessed with it monopolizing your life.

About 25% give or take.
Looking to improve this figure.
Self doubts, depression, tiredness - all partially stem from feeling too much pity and doing too little to improve the situation.

Just got to squash the occasional paranoid thought. Other than that there is little. The meds give me a much harder time than symptoms these days.

i try and put it behind me, i would say less than 10% bc its all under control (mostly) my CFS is worse than the sz atm, i was actually re-diagnosed and the dr says i don’t have sz anymore and never had it lol,
