Poll: Do you use nutritional supplements or vitamins?

I’m just trying to understand if people who visit here regularly use nutritional supplements (and in this I would include things like chinese herbs or other things (non-drug) you might take for health purposes:

  • yes, sometimes I take a vitamin or two, but not regularly
  • yes, just one (example, a multivitamin) regularly
  • yes, more than one vitamin or other nutritional supplement regularly
  • no

I took Vitamin D for a little while after tests showed I was low. I don’t take anything unless I’m deficient.

I take a multivitamin regularly and prescription strength fish oil - Lovaza - I may start taking vitamin B complex

I don’t take vitamins but use a variety of herbal supplements, some in teas, some in food. Many spices also have medicinal value. We probably have 40 different things here along those lines, maybe more

I take glucosamine and chondroitin for my joints. I’m 55 years old. I can’t tell if it is having any effect.

I use more than two nutritional supplements daily for the past few months. So far the results are more than pleasing. I take this opportunity to review my progress. After taking iodine and magnesium, I find my cognitive and attention problems improved a great deal. I can think and converse easily now. I don’t find memory problems bothering me again. I read articles by David Brownstein and mark Sirius for the benefits of iodine and magnesium. My heart is feeling much better.

thanks for the feedback so far. Any other people want to add to this?

I have taken Choline (Lecithin) as supplementation. It has tremendously improved my long term memory and may be to some extent some term memory. Everyone has different physiology what might work for one may not for other. I tried Phosphatidylserine but it didn’t help me for memory. My memory had got very worst to the point of saying I had become dumb. But certain supplements gave me my life back. Now I have very good job. I got to know about supplements from internet. I used to go to psychiatrists and sadly reprise them about my memory problem but no one ever recommended or prescribed supplements. Doctors have their own specialization and I believe very few psychiatrists will ever recommend supplements. I believe you’ve work with a dietitian for supplements. I had hypersomnia and shortness of breath problem due to iron deficiency but my psychiatrist kept prescribing me psychotropic medicines for these problems. Iron supplementation for some months completely cured these problems. All in all supplements gave me my life back including one of best government jobs of India.

Thanks
