Poll: Depression or Anxiety?

On Lamictal I become super anxious

Off Lamictal I become super depressed

Should I come off the Lamictal and become depressed or remain on the Lamictal and stay anxious?

Which is worse to live with?

How about trying a different medication entirely, like an AD with Depakote to prevent mania? Both are bad, but personally I hate anxiety more than any symptom OCD or SZA has thrown at me. At least with the other symptoms I can feel relaxed.

Why can’t you go on an anxiety medication?

Both are terrible and I feel like you shouldn’t have to pick.

I’m prescribed Klonopin but it only helps my Lamictal anxiety a tiny bit.
Plus if I take it everyday it won’t be as effective

Yeah I hate being depressed don’t get me wrong it’s downright crippling but I absolutely hate feeling on edge.
It makes me very uncomfortable and paranoid

Sounds like Lamictal is a problem.

Have you tried a different medication?

Yeah Lamictal is a problem @Charles_Foster but ADs are a bigger problem for me.

I might not have a choice but to remain on the Lamictal, I don’t know

You can always get prescribed something for anxiety.

But the problem is you become suicidal when you get depressed.

Yeah I know that’s the problem, my depressions get pretty deep and I’ll have suicidal thoughts

Try an SSRI and depakote like said, lexapro and depakote combo made me so calm and i had one of the best naps in my life on this combo

I was going to post exactly the same reply. It sounds like Lamictal is the problem.

Yeah Lamictal makes me activated but I don’t think that my doctor will want me to stop taking the Lamictal because it keeps me from being suicidal.

I guess I’m going to have to continue taking Klonopin and live with the anxiety.

Thanks everyone

I have crippling anxiety and I’ve found that Xanax works better than Klonopin for me. Klonopin is like taking sugar pills. Have you tried it?

I voted anxiety is worse because too much anxiety can make me really depressed about the situation.

Have you tried tegretol? My pdoc said it was a good one for mood stability. I never tried it yet but i have a script for it

I didnt vote because i beleive they go hand in hand. Also, i cant decide which symptom is worse. They can both be equally debilitating.

I’ve been diagnosed with both anxiety and depression and in my opinion, anxiety is worse. The pounding/racing heart from it drives me fuc*ing crazy.

my depression got too extreme since my whole klonopin withdrawal and PAWS situation. i thought i didnt need ad’s but i am ok with taking them now as its better than feeling hopeless and suicidal. i have anxiety but in comparison to the depression its not too bad

Never tried Xanax but I hear it’s highly addictive, more so than Klonopin

@LevelJ1 I was on Tegretol for years, it’s a good mood stabilizer but I have Depakote for mood stabilization.

I need something for my depression like Lamictal but ADs make me super manic

I didn’t vote, because it entirely depends on how you cope with either one. For me, I think depression is worse. But for others, anxiety is worse.
