I am a political animal and like discussing political and social issues(they often cross paths) but once again the reason why such threads are a no go area has been fully illustrated. Some just lack the maturity to allow those running the site to welcome such threads with open arms.
It was a chance to show we could be sensible(many were) but it only takes a few to spoil things.

Discussing politics can ruin a good conversation. Everyone has the attitude - “But this is the truth!” I can be subject to that myself. In their feelings about politics is where a lot of people store their resentments against the world. People can get really angry discussing politics.

In real life, people already find it difficult to discuss these issues without raising their voices or becoming steamed. Behind the anonymity of the internet, and the impersonality of computers/phones, these conversational traits quickly move on to personal attacks. It eventually riles people up, trigger others and it’s in no way benefitial for the mental health of its participants.

The pessimist in me thinks Western civilisation died with Christian morality. Liberalism, Capitalism and Consumerism turned them into a mass of brainless consumer idiots. And we may already be dead.
The optimist in me says we are progressing onwards and upwards. 
This is the second higher functioning sz to completely miss that the subject is or may be triggering to someone who isn’t as far a long in their recovery…that’s the main point…but calling your fellow sz children…the other poster…or lacking in maturity is kinda mean…some of you higher functioners seem to forget how fragile a recovering mind can be…
