Poem: Internet: Coming Of Age

“Internet: Coming Of Age”

growing up in the
age of Encyclopedia
Brittanica i never
dreamed of what
was to come, an
interconnected world
of computerized
information and all
of it available at
the click of a
mouse, now a
full-fledged convert
i don’t know what
i would do without
Youtube and Google

yep!

If it wasn’t for my parents, I never would have any tech.

I went online late, 2002, my dad bought me a computer

and I kept it in the box for 6 months, heehee.

I was so mad when my mom bought my daughter

a cell phone when she in 8th grade.

She bought mine too.

We were online back in like 1998 or 99 i think. But i am not very tech savvy, so i didn’t get very into it until later on.

My dad is a computer engineer so we were online I was like 6 or 7 (born in 90) when my dad called me into his office and said “this is…the internet…”.

I remember the dial up days all too well

Napster, aim, and other stuff.

I remember being late to using AIM though. I was in 4th or 5th grade I think and everyone else already had aim when I got it.

I have regrets about the internet. But now I use it more properly. I believe it can expand your mind, make you more open minded. Depending on how you use it.

It’s obvious the internet would be destructive to a young lad like myself. In the first wave of the internet growing up around it without society knowing anything about it. I was the guinea pig, the test dummy kid. Crash course on the internet and how it affects young minds

I’m adaptable and adjustable though and now it’s starting to become better use for me.

heehee, you took a complete turn this morning

wrote a nature poem

then a tech poem

yeah, I guess the blending of the two.

I wish business and roadways would preserve nature.

There’s a great highway in Iowa, up near Monticello,

if you visit Iowa, about the 3rd week in July,

lined with wildflowers. gorgeous.

I’m not that far from the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. It’s supposed to be really beautiful, especially during the fall season.

Yeah the internet is definitely a force that can be used for good or evil. It all depends on the person.

Speaking of nature vs technology.

It wasn’t until 200 years ago when we started using energy that global climate change became possible. Before that there was little to no global warming. No technologies such as gas, cars, electricity, etc.

Now only 200 years later. We’re already thinking about our eminent doom from this!

What I learned though

is it may agriculture that’s done it.

When they’re crop dusting in Iowa

I close all my windows as I drive by.
