Please help

I need to be on an antidepressant type med but I can’t take antidepressants like SSRIS and others.

I’m in bad shape.

I’m very depressed and need to be on a antidepressant type med quickly because I’ve been having some dark thoughts that need to be addressed quickly.

I’m waiting for my psychiatrist to contact me and I want to be prepared with a list of meds for depression.

True antidepressants make me manic and psychotic and Lamictal made me super anxious and manic.

Abilify made me super anxious and psychotic.

Other than these failed drugs I am open to suggestions.

I am willing to come off of Risperdal and try another AP if I have to.
I am desperate.

I wish I could help but I know nothing about ADs. I only took Wellbutrin but it was for negative symptoms according to my pdr.

What was the last mood stabilizer you were on? I know you didn’t like it, but at least it was working.

Depakote ER @everhopeful
Should I just go back to it?

I’m wondering

Go back on it until you’re stable. Then you can think of a plan B.

I’m reluctant to go back on it.

She suggested Latuda a few times.

Latuda can be your plan B once you’re stable again.

I take Lexapro, and it helps me. I also took Zoloft, it helped me as well. I got sexual side effects on Zoloft, so I stopped taking it.

from what I understand an AD helps with the AP.

My friend takes Latuda and she’s bipolar. It helped her so much she went from no friends and not working for 10 straight years to having lots of friends and working full time.

I wish it helped me. I was a bit psychotic on it, also too irritable/agitated with a bit of catatonia/freezing. Bad akathisia. Bad nausea. Have to eat min 350 calories with it. Insomnia.

Latuda could be good for depression though @Vertigo
I used it for sz.

I think @everhopeful is right.
I may have to get back on Depakote.

Most other AD type meds make me crazy!

Oh well, I can get to being real fat again.

I’ll see what she thinks.

Thanks guys!

@Aziz @Vertigo , my friend and I have the same pdoc. While the dr said it’s good for bipolar, she told me it’s not good enough for sz

I was told seroquel has properties that help stabilise mood by my psychiatrist.

Anyway changing ap is a huge decision, I would obviously discuss such an opinion with your pdoc.

And I would not make such a decision lightly.

You’re welcome, BTW about the seroquel thing I said, do keep in mind that just cos it’s known to help with mood it’s not ALWAYS the case so defo weigh out pros and cons
