I don’t know what to do

My depression has gotten so bad.
I am constantly sad and I cry from time to time.
I hardly leave the house and I spend the days lounging on the couch in my pajamas.
My thoughts are becoming disorganized and my room is a mess!

My psychiatrist prescribed me Lamictal for depression but I refuse to take it because my pharmacist warned me of dangerous drug to drug interactions between Lamictal and Depakote.

So now I’m stuck without a med that could possibly help me with my depression.

I can’t take traditional antidepressants because they make me manic.

I’ll probably call her up for a new med.

I can’t continue like this.

How so ?

ADs raise serotonin, which in turn lowers dopamine; so if anything they should improve your symptoms.

If you have the money, biofeedback/Neurofeedback really helped me with a lot of that stuff.

No they put me in the hospital.
My psychiatrist won’t prescribe them to me.
All AD type meds make me manic really.

That’s the best thing to do.

You’re doing the right thing. Don’t take it.

Okay lol.

That’s weird.

It’s a really common response for people with bipolar or sza.

It has depression benefits.

What things do you enjoy doing @Vertigo? Maybe listen to soothing music try to relax, go out for coffee with a friend, play with your pets, take a hot shower and go for a walk.

I actually am considering Latuda.
I’ll mention it to her.

@see121 I just don’t have the motivation to do much of anything.

Its a great med; little to no weight gain, hardly any side effects

Just one small issue; it gives off horrible anxiety (at least it did for me) for about 2 - 3 hours after you take it. I usually took it right before bed.

I don’t know if she is up to prescribing it to me alongside the risperidone.
She won’t take me off of the risperidone.

See what she says, itll help your depression 100% though.

Yeah I will definitely mention it to her.

Sorry to hear that you are going thru such a rough time @Vertigo.
Hope you will find a way to treat your depression without disrupting the effects of your other meds.
Wish you the best.

Have you tried Abilify for depression? It has been approved for depression as well as an antipsychotic.

Yeah I was on Abilify before.
Unfortunately it made me worse but yes I know it’s great for depression.

Thanks @LilyoftheValley

Wave the last several ad’s I’ve taken have landed me in the hospital with a manic episode but I too struggle with terrible depression. In the last year I’ve been using duloxetine (Cymbalta) and so far I haven’t gone manic. It’s a ssnri, maybe that would work for you, it’s really helping me. I’m so sorry you’re struggling, I wish you blue skies always.
