Pink Floyd

Remember when you were young
You shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond

Now there’s a look in your eyes
Like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond

You were caught on the cross fire
Of childhood and stardom
Blown on the steel breeze
Come on you target for faraway laughter
Come on you stranger
You legend, you martyr and shine

You reached for the secret too soon
You cried for the moon
Shine on you crazy diamond

Threatened by shadows at night
And exposed in the light
Shine on you crazy diamond

Well, you wore out your welcome
With random precision
Rode on the steel breeze
Come on you raver, you seer of visions
Come on you painter
You piper, you prisoner and shine

A tribute to Syd Barrett

Yes, both “Wish You Were Here” and “Dark side of The Moon” was about Syd Barret. I think I read somewhere that despite what is commonly thought about Syd Barret,he was never actually formally diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Yeah you are right Nick, He was never formally diagnosed. I think they were thinking either schizophrenia or bipolar disorder at some point. Maybe SZA? He was a genius in my view

Genius? Maybe. He was one of the founding members of the group and he was a big influence on the group. Personally, I really couldn’t name even one of his songs. But I read something about his last days with the group which is both funny and tragic. He started getting erratic near the end and sometimes when they were performing live concerts his guitar solo would come up in the middle of the song but he would play a lengthy solo from an entirely different song! And it didn’t fit in with the song they were playing at the time.

He did unravel towards the end - sad for sure
