PInk Floyd song, Shine on you crazy diamond

Anyone out there hear the Pink Floyd song, Shine on you crazy diamond. Apparently it was about the founding member of Pink Floyd, Syd Barett. He developed sz and had to leave the band due to excessive use of LSD and this was the mid 60s so I’m sure he was unmedicated. What a great song though! If you get a chance check it out. I think all of us who develop sz are shining diamonds. Continue to rock my friends!

It’s a common misconception that he was schizophrenic, he was actually never formally diagnosed with it. Dark Side of the Moon has at least one track, Brain Damage, that is about Syd’s descent into madness.

I believe he was experiencing sz symptims. He was using a lot of LSD so I suppose maybe the sz like symptoms were the results of the drug use. Such a bummer he didn’t get some good treatment. It was the 60s so their treatment back then was pretty primitive.
