"Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd

Syd Barret, the leader of the band Pink Floyd suffered schizophrenia. He wrote a song about his experiences in his song “Brain Damage.” Does anyone else like this song? Here are the lyrics.

[EDIT] Sorry, Syd Barret didn’t write the song, but it was based on him

“The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games
And daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And everyday the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there’s no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade
You make the change
You rearrange me till I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head
But it’s not me
And if the cloud bursts thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon.”

I think you’ll find that wasn’t written by Syd. He’d left the band before the Dark Side of the Moon.

My mistake. Did the other person who wrote this song suffer schizophrenia?

Lol…
My favorite tune from that album is Eclipse.

I think it was written by Roger Waters…no he didn’t have a dx but wrote a lot of depressing stuff for sure. He did know about Syd though so your right in that it could have inspired him. Syd turned up when they were writing for Wish You Were Here. Shine on You Crazy Diamond was written about Syd for sure.

Just did a Wikipedia search, it was about Syd Barret’s illness. I guess Roger Waters wrote it
