I’ve witnessed so much talent on this forum, it makes my head spin!
I believe that the creative side to our brains operate differently than normal people…that our afflictions, when harnessed for a positive purpose as opposed to self-destruction…can result in beautiful works of Art as I’ve seen numerous times on this website.
I think once you’ve experienced the deepest darkness of Schizophrenia/ Psychosis…and you finally walk out of that tunnel…our Sun just shines a little bit brighter than most.
‘Capture’ is extremely important in Art…filtering the bad out of the mix…and being left with the beauty and expressiveness of who you truly are.
I remember before I was diagnosed Schizophrenic. My girlfriend wanted me to marry her. We were sitting in my car and she pointed up to the sky and said…
“If I wish upon that Star, will you make my dreams come true?”
So I went home later that night and penned this song.
Beautiful to Me
Well she always wears a smile
Under green eyes faded blue
As she lays down there beside me
And whispers I love you
Won’t you tell me all your troubles
You know I’ve got some too
If we spend a little time
We can work things through
And sometimes I wonder
Could you be any more beautiful
Still I wonder, could you be any more beautiful
To me…
If I wished upon a Star
Would you make my dreams come true
Or will you live your life promising
Those empty words ‘I do’
They say love can’t wait forever
Believe you me I’ve tried
Tell me we will be together
And never question why
And sometimes I wonder
Could you be any more beautiful
Still I wonder, could you be any more beautiful
To me
