Personality disorders

I like how they say there’s a “marked difference” and then basically go on to say people with schizotypal may still experience positive symptoms someone with sz does just milder. Ok…so they experience all the same symptoms as someone with sz but less intense. Really just sounds like an issue of not seeing things on a spectrum to me. If someone experiences depression regularly but it is less intense it is referred to as dysthymia. They aren’t just referred to as having a “depressive personality disorder”. Why is this different? I don’t have a personality disorder but this still irritates me.

Yeah, I’ve always thought it was pretty strange. I think it’s seriousness is kind of downplayed somewhat

Thank you everyone it all sounds a bit of a mess!

I’m still waiting to hear back on my diagnosis…

Dissociative personality disorder (multiple personality disorder) is a another one too… Though very uncommon

That is called Dissociative identity disorder and is not a personality disorder.

It sounds like you still haven’t accepted your diagnosis.

I also think that many people with psychosis can have personality problems.

My last pdoc alluded to the idea of me being schizoid. I suppose there is a lot of comorbidity. Just focus on getting better though. Labels are for chicken soup not people.
