Personal hygiene

My friend had another chat with me about my personal hygiene. He clarified that he says it out of love, but that I need to shower more often. Apparently my hygiene has gotten so bad that another friend of ours doesn’t want to hug or touch me because he thinks I’m unclean or that I smell.

I’m petrified. I didn’t think anyone would notice that I’ve been slacking in the shower department.

He also suggested I write showers into my weekly schedule 3 times a week to make sure I don’t forget. Actually that’s not a bad idea.

I really need to do better.

How is your personal hygiene? Any tips on how to improve it despite lack of motivation?

I lack here as well. It’s like I’m willful or something. I literally have to make myself do personal hygiene tasks! I’ve actually scheduled days where I always shower. I know that at this point in my life, I won’t do it every day, but I will every other or at MOST every two.

And then I leave sticky notes on the mirror to remind me to brush my teeth and wear deodorant every day…

I’m not good about taking showers either.

Once, twice a week,

And I hate washing my hair the most.

In between showers I use unscented baby wipes to clean up and dry shampoo keep fresh,

It may not be normal, but it works for me.

Dear Nova, that must hard to hear, but don’t feel alone. I too lack in that. I think many of us have trouble with it. I shower when my hair gets greasy, because I hate that. The other days I use a neutral deodorant and perfumed body scent that I put near my door, on the shelf where my keys are. When going out I use that. Because it’s in sight and near my keys I don’t forget. Should shower more though. I like the idea of scheduling it.

I shower when my hair gets oily…that’s about every five days…unless I start wearing a hat then I can go as far as two weeks but I don’t like wearing a hat anymore…I’m no cowboy…haha

I have to work, the gals complain about how some of the guys smell, they wear the same clothes everyday and don’t shower. I wash up everyday, shower every second day and change clothes everyday

I have to shower every other day because of work. I hate “shower nights”. What’s worse is that I’ve been losing my hair lately so it’s awfully thin and gets noticeably greasy even just the day after I’ve showered.

If I didn’t have to work I bet I’d shower only once a week.

I’m better than I used to be. However there are warning signs I may be slipping. I had a routine of shower/occasionally bath asap after waking but have slipped a little from that routine. I’ve sometimes had an evening shower/bath instead but not always.
One thing I’m finding is if I wake up quite late the temptation is to skip a shower/bath.

I shower every third day and wash my very short hair once a week. Can’t make myself do more than that.

I’m not saying that this is right or wrong, but if you don’t manage your body odour - and almost all adults have some - you’ll find yourself without a job and they won’t tell you the real reason that you were dismissed. Not caring for yourself and showing consideration for others at this basic level is a terrible social and professional liability. Be savvy and do what you need to do.

Every time you take better care of yourself, you strengthen your will to take better care of yourself. This is what habits and learning are. It’s never to late to start taking better care of yourself. As you do, it will become easier/more natural to make this choice.

I use this app to track showering because otherwise I just won’t remember until it’s too late:

I don’t like showering every single day because my skin and hair gets too dried out. I enjoy taking a shower more often now though since I ditched using cheap bar soap (which I dropped constantly) and now use a brand name body wash. The body wash doesn’t leave as much of a film on the tub either so I don’t have to clean the shower as often.

I am also really bad about vacuuming our apartment regularly. I think that feeling bad about it though just makes it harder to do.

I shoot for every other day and every time I have to leave the house even if that means two days in a row. Sometimes, however, I do go three days without and I can’t stand the way I feel about myself. In the depths of a major depressive episode I will go a long time without because I simple can’t get out of bed.

I have been told by my brother and others that I stink.

My father’s new wife bought me a perfume.
Indicating something…?

I shower every or every second day.

Water sooths me , heals me, warms me, helps me.

Unfortunately we do not have a bath here yet and one is not to use much water here out in da country.

I miss water like lakes , ocean etc I lived by them n now am out country but have a blowup pool.

I put makeup on today.

I have started putting makeup on more often.

To protect my eyelashes that get burnt by the sun or seem to have shrunk and tips changed colour.

Also to improve my looks and feel.

My mum n grandma use makeup.

I was surprised my grandma did because it looked so natural as if she was wearing none.

My hair gets greasy after just one day.
Fine and greasy n feels awful.

I am trying to dress better too.

Even to the gym.
Me n this other chick were only ones to wear trackies n we both looked pretty saggy n grubby but now we all seem to have tights .

My bf does not seem to have noticed.lol

He is in pain now though.
God bless him.:two_hearts::pray:t3:

I used to spend a lot of time showering in Sweden n felt so cold n dirty .

Here in Oz I am trying to shower only every second day instead of every day.
Also my man n I do not do same temperatures and there may not be enough hot water for both of us in one day.

I shower everyday, but I only wash my hair once a month. I just can’t bring myself to wash my hair more than that. I really wish I could. Any tips?

I force myself to shower every day.

But I work with materials that require a daily shower so I kinda have no choice

Maybe make a routine out of your showerin rituals.
I usually do breasts, armpits, arms, stomach, crotch and then hair.

At the point I reach hair, it’s already wet, so i might as well just put shampoo in it and rinse it out.
