People who take supplements: has anything improved motivation?

The subject line says it all.

Here’s what I’ve tried and had no success with:

5-htp
Glycine (it offically decreases the effectiveness of Clozapine by the way! )
NAC (it seems to decrease the effectiveness of abilify in my experience)
L-theanine+coffee (no effect on motivation)

Just why people with out schizophrenia get improvements is beyond me.

Not really. Still don’t shower much, it’s kinda a struggle to even do the things I enjoy. Everything feels arduous.

I’m experimenting taking all the vitamins and minerals every day from organic food sources and not inorganic multivitamins.

Exercise. It costs you nothing but what you invest in but pays back in spades.

Seriously. Tried supplements but I still found best possible thing was easy. Simple exercise. It gets easier for sure and improves motivation to a. Do more exercise. b have energy and drive to do other things.

DMG or TMG helps in motivation and improving mood. Best natural alternative to antidepressants.

NALT (n acetyl l tyrosine) helps in motivation and improves cognition almost like DMG, TMG but using dopamine.

Exercise and workouts help in improving mood too and these supplements aid in that too.

I am not convinced that supplements help.

AP’s are so powerful, I just don’t buy that natural ingredients can help in anyway when we have to take such medications to help.

AP’s and Benzos are no where near off the shelf assistance. These are serious medicines.

Nicotine: Drastically helps with motivation, but only temporarily.
Caffeine: Same as nicotine.

I find sugar helps as well, but again, only temporarily.

Anti depressants Somewhat help with motivation, although everyone is different.

In theory, short bursts of dopamine and/or a stable amount of serotonin will help with motivation issues.

Sunlight, omega 3, vitamins (if you eat like crap), protein powder, exercise, a good sleep, caffeine, nicotine is what i would like to go back to.

I’d assume getting fiber from plant diet helps too and not just the vitamins.
I’m having can of black beans(fiber, protein, carbs), carrots(a vitamin), broccoli(c and k vitamin), raw almonds(e and b vitamins), raw cashews(minerals and b vitamins), orange juice(c vitamin) and two eggs(b12 vitamin) every day.

The supplement game seems kind of blah for me. The only thing that really helps me is going outside for at least a half hour a day, and then forcing myself to do at least five minutes of work. Once I’ve started, it’s much easier to carry on with my momentum. It’s just hard to get started initially.

Having external pressure helps me. My kid is good for that, because no matter how crappy I feel, he still needs to eat and get to school. Before I had him, I would post my chores on here and get someone else to push me to start.

LS! I take about 30-40 supplements daily. B-vitamins, astaxanthin really helps a little (see the link). What helps my head most is a large pot of white tea (Pai Mu Tan). Now I am motivated to do intermittent fasting already for two years and daily exercise.

You gotta get off your ass and exercise. It’s the only thing that works.

The first step is the hardest one.

I thought Abilify was improving my motivation for a while, but it made me so jittery I had to come off it.

I mainly take certain supplements for my physical health.
They don’t help with motivation.

I’m taking l-theanine, and it’s the damnedest thing, it feels like it is loosening up my connective tissue, particularly around my hips. I’ve been so frozen with anxiety for so long that it will take a while for it to work on my anxiety. I’ve laid in a good supply of it. I found a good deal on it.

The only thing which helps motivation for me is a drop in the APs. Although Im now at min (10mg abilify), so no more gains for me.
