Mostly in my neighborhood, people knows I’m schizophrenic, and the most old people and some of my own age are making fun about me, if a walk close to them they say in low voice bad stuff about me and they laugh. I think that’s not cool because no one is perfect, I won’t do anything about it I just want to know how you guys cope with it?
Well I always like to reality test to be sure it’s not my own insecurity imagining things so I suggest bringing a recorder with you to see if it’s really happening. If it is I suggest bringing a friend with you when you go out for moral support, or going to different places if you can. I really don’t understand it. I live in a town that is thoughtful and understanding of people with MI. I would say if they are so low as to make fun of a person who is already suffering with MI then just consider the source. Perhaps they are immature, thoughtless, had a bad day, hold a grudge or even are MI themselves. It is nice to have a good friend drive you places for support but if you have to go alone hold your head up high, get what you need, and consider the source, don’t take it personally. Now if they physically try to hurt you then report it.

I’ve never been in a situation such as you’ve described, but if I was I would look at the source. Those people sound like idiots, so I wouldn’t spend any time trying to educate them.
As long as they don’t touch you, or impede you in any other way, you just have to write them off as idiots.
Sorry you’re having to deal with that.

Ya they look like idiots they just don’t understand. I really wish they would educate these assholes about mental illness in there high schools or maybe they already do I don’t know. Maybe they’re to stupid to pay attention to mental illness. I always thought we are gifted I heard szs use 10% more of there brain then people without it. Assholes I tell ya

I just ignore them, I put my headphones on and I can’t finally hear their judgment. Music calms the bad side of me. These people are crazy and they don’t surely have a life as they keep on looking at others flaws.
