Agreed. Someone needed to say it.
Long as the Royal Family is happy I guess that is all that matters.
@bobbilly @ThePickinSkunk @shutterbug
Nope benefits are brutal in the Uk worse than America and EU
The reason @bobbilly has money is because he is in supported living home for severely mentally ill
He has a conservativeship whereby social services take care of most of his finances i believe and he cannot drive and doesn’t pay bills, hence he can afford the luxury of going visiting abroad once every few months
But nope benefits here are bad and getting worse by the year on year
The public housing you folks have there doesn’t exist in North America, at least not in that quantity or quality. There is one member posting here from the UK who has a vehicle provided. Never heard of that across the pond.
Here’s where things are heading in Canada:
Nice, eh?
Edit: Can’t say more on this because of the rules, but let’s just say that the Canadian support net is not what most non-Canadians believe it to be.
In the Uk there is a housing crisis
We have a hundred applicants for every vacancy
Theres a massive illegal immigration problem here, there coming here and nowhere to house anyone anymore
It takes years now to get a council property
Theres major multi occupation overcrowding problems
I think your thinking of years ago, its just bad now
Noone has ever had a vehicle provided?
There is a mobility scheme if you are in a wheelchair whereby your benefit is reduced to pay for renting a car
Hahahaha. You may get access to a service called “Handi-bus” that is woefully inadequate not to mention badly underfunded (I’m on the board of the local hand-bus association by the way.) Mostly you’re lucky if you get a free bus pass.
you live in Canada right. Well would you wanna move to the UK? I seriously doubt it
Sure. I love taking pics of oceans and beaches and historic buildings. Besides, crap housing is better than no housing:
We’re worried about people in unwinterized trailers freezing to death this winter. The UK doesn’t get cold like my part of Canada does.
im not going to sit here all night arguing which country is worst?
Oh, they both suck in different ways, but I can tell you that the benefits over there are mind-blowing to North Americans.
Why how much money did you get when you were sick
America and EU get a hell of a lot more than Uk and standard of living better in America and rest of Europe
Your the support group moderator but it seems you just like arguing every point in one fashion or another
You must be target driven to keep users interested
I got $650/mth in 1993 and that is about $1,200/mth now in CDN dollars. It barely paid rent then and it sure wouldn’t now. I didn’t have enough left for food. It was food banks and AA friends that kept me fed.
I agree with @anon29983254. Getting free housing isn’t easy. And the free car comes out of PIP. You lose a big chunck of the benefit. I don’t get as much as @bobbilly and I still live at home at 38. I hope that says something. But I’m not arguing. I’m just showing my frustration. I wish I could work a full time job.
Oh, there’s no free housing here. There is housing that is a percentage of your income IF you are lucky.
What if your unemployed or disabled
