Social services pay directly for my support to a care company. I get 31 hours a week one-to-one. The support offered is good but I want to go direct payments where the support money is paid to me so I have more flexibility.
I have a couple of questions.
Could I manage the direct payments personalty in my accounts if its deemed I lack mental capacity with finances. I have a psychology report saying I lack capacity with finances and I’m at the top level of my ability with managing money and still lack capacity.
Also if its agreed I should have direct payments can I use these to pay for a support worker abroad such as Sri Lanka. I plan to spend 28 days there after the pandemic. I could pay a local person directly over there which would be cheaper then paying a British person. When I mentioned to this my community nurse he gave me a look but didn’t say anything about it. Would this be doable?
I hope you don’t feel I’m talking you down mate, because I really sympathize with your situation. It’s a bugger to have an independent spirit while being trapped in a dependent life. That being said, you consistently post about having made irresponsible decisions or wanting to do things that are way beyond reckless. I think you are best avised to let someone else handle it for you here. It will keep you out of trouble and reduce your stress over the long run.
They’ll never take me off this CTO. Its been 11 years since they put me on it. Since I stabbed myself in my left armpit seriously injuring it because of thoughts of microchips I’ll be stuck on it for years.
my care team just play along with my travel ideas trying not to upset me but when it comes to the crunch its like ‘your not well enough for holidays atm, maybe when your better’ Then they won’t give me the funding as they manage my money.
