Pensioner opens up about living with schizophrenia

Anthony Alce, 78, is one of more than 600,000 people in the UK to have received a schizophrenia diagnosis, which he manages through antipsychotic medication.

I wish that where I live had those kind of resources. It’s impossible to get any kind of supported housing here that can improve the quality of life of those with severe mental illness. There used to be a good group home here but they went bankrupt and closed it down.

Where do you live @WhiteRaven? The US?

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska…they call it a city but it’s more like a town. A small town. The total population of Fairbanks and the surrounding area is only about 40,000 people.

I’m sorry you don’t have access @WhiteRaven . I’ve been lucky to receive a lot of cars this past year. I wish you had that kind of access too
