Pdoc’s taking me off depot. Putting me on zyprexa/olanzapine. Olanzapine is hardcore?

I am happy to get off the depot but slightly concerned the doc felt the need for olanzapine. I mean that stuff is strong

I’m concerned why he would do that. For me the depot has got me stable as with meds I wouldn’t take them. Also with a depot you get a consistent dose over time.

I was on a super high dose of depot but still got symptoms. I take my oral meds > 99% of the time so I think they wanted to try olanzapine.

Olanzapine did nothing to me, I think I was immune. Remember the pills being massive tho.

You will get the serious munchies on the stuff tho lol

I’ve heard that from others on the forum.

Also you’re on Seroquel, so you could be getting a double munchie whammy. I’d at least mention it to the psychiatrist.

Don’t really get hungry on quetiapine. And actually I wish it did, cos my diet is terrible lol.

Works good for me but keep regular checkups on blood sugar it can cause very massive weight gain :frowning:

I’m on 20 mg of olanzapine and I love it. Meds affect everyone differently. I think it’s worth trying. Just report side effects to your pdoc

What do you love about it? I took 20mg of Olanzapine for less than a year total I think and I liked that it made me feel calm and for 6 months when I was involuntarily committed I didn’t notice any positive symptoms on it.

It calms me down enough that even though I feel followed and threatened, I can now leave my house

That’s good. I used to be scared to go places. Sometimes I still worry some of my old enemies will see me around town and harass me.

The sleepiness can be an issue at first, but it became much less after a little while. Might be good to find something low calorie to munch on so not to gain weight

I take it. A lot of side effects, but helps with delusions. I prefer it over Vraylar now. I think Vraylar stopped working for me. I was on Vraylar for several years. I used to like it.
