Because I have a tendency to regulate my own dosis, the pdoc at the hospital put me on depot, injection, Olanzapine 10 mg.
How does it work? Can I expect any side effects? Is the dose the same a whole month or is there a decrease in effect days before i get a new injection.
Please share your thoughts about depot injections?
Your pdoc is wrong for not giving you this information. Next time you have any kind of change in your meds, ask your prescriber to tell you all those things.
depot injections have better outcomes and lesser side effects. im on depot injection since 2016 and feel ok.but i figure it out that after shot it getting less stronger day by day.thats why i also take oral tablets.my drug regime is 350 mg trevicta 6mg invega and 20 mg prozac
I was on olanzapine once. Seems like way back in my delusional mess. I think they took me off. Because I started gaining weight really fast. Maybe. Or it didn’t work or something. Man what a mess my life has been
It’s designed to stay level in your system until your next dose. It may take a few months to get to the right dose. Overall injectables are more stable then daily pills. It’s beneficial to keep a journal and write down symptoms and side effects to read to your doctor next appointment. Good luck!
Im on various depot injections for 9 years, mainly Invega or haloperidol, never tried olanzapine depot, but I think I might try it when Invega fails. Most common side effects of olanzapine injection is weighr gain, sedation and sexual dysfunction
Strangely there is not much information about depot olanzapine. I’m lucky - I only gained 10 pounds and after that nothing more.
Besides that i haven’t got any side effects, im very happy for the increase of dose from 5 to 10 mg. I was very much in pain, and the day after i received 10 mg, most of the pain was gone.
