I have noticed a pattern the past few days of locking topics in the Unusual Beliefs forum. The subject matter seems to center on either aliens or God & religion. There appears to be a consistency with this locking.
These subjects could well be considered unusual beliefs and therefore open to discussion. Although I know there can be debate on some of these topics, there hasn’t been any outright attacks or flaming.
Is there some sort of prejudice against religion and alien discussions? these things are certainly a part of our world and many people believe in them, not just people diagnosed SZ. And, there are a wide variety of beliefs as far as both aliens and God.
On occasion, If I feel that the thread has run it’s course, then yes I will close it. It has little to do with the topic of the thread so there is no prejudice regarding topic.
Delusions and unusual beliefs should be discussed from a reality based perspective. That’s why we are here, to debunk them and support people overcoming them. This is not the place to discuss them as if they were real. Go to a conspiracy site, a UFO site or whatever.
I need to mention that I’m not telling anyone to leave the site. I mean that if you want to discuss delusions as if they were real there are a ton of sites for that purpose. Posting such ideas there would be better for everyone.
I am fully in favor of talking about experiences and delusions we’ve had. I think though that it is important to realize that these things aren’t real and to discuss them from the perspective that they aren’t. We’re here to help people overcome them, not reinforce the thought that they are true.
its totally allowed, but we want to help each other get over this stuff not fuel the fire, and learn to try and rationalize and think critically about it to help release from these ideas to potentially help reduce the symptoms. to help manage the condition that is schizophrenia.
It’s like i say, if you are recovered you are allowed, schizophrenics aren’t allowed, you are only allowed if you aren’t so much a schizophrenic anymore.
Delusional thinking is dangerous time for a person to have. If someone is delusional the last thing they need to hear is someone reinforcing what they already believe, therefore leading to deeper and more psychotic thinking which can lead to terror as it did in my case anyways. I think I need to shut my mouth about spiritual matters anymore. and I apologize. I just got blinded by that movie I saw.
But, can you prove they are not real? These things have been believed in by millions and for thousands of years. We’re talking all the religions of the world, which includes some the religions of Europe who have a deity exactly as Pansdisease saw…half goat, half man. Pan, Baphomet, a faun…it has many names.
Aliens as well are believed in and not just by conspiracy theorists, or a fringe of society.
I’m not saying that in some cases it is not a delusion, but truth is there is the real and the false. I try to sort out what is real or not.
like I’ve said before, cameras don’t hallucinate, yet cameras catch UFOs quite often. I’ve posted several of my own pics and NASA pics.
I’ve also posted about when multiple witnesses all experience the same exact vision of something not normally seen 3D.
How then can we say it is all not real?
Overcoming them in some cases is not going to happen with psychiatry or medication. When the experience is real then one must understand what they are dealing with, and approach it either with spiritual warfare against the negatives, or communication with the entity if positive.
yes dandy, i was thinking that too. there was one the other day i wanted to repl;y to but it had been locked. i was not pleased. now i’m all for talking people down but it’s not as simple as “i say it’s not true, so therefor it’s not” it takes time and experience and knowledge to cast out a delusion i think and having people to talk to in the meantime, while people are experiencing them, is essential to one’s recovery i feel.
